Dear Bird House Lover,

My name is Andy Millspaugh.

I build Dove and Robin houses and place them under the eaves of our barn, house and other out buildings.

They like to be high and safe from predators; they like low traffic areas.

Robins and Doves are good to have for insects, worms, grubs and other flying bugs. They help maintain the insect population in your garden and around your house.

The bird houses for them are very simple to make, with just a couple tools, they like raw wood not painted but if you do always use water base safe paint because the baby’s will peck at the wood.

Dove are more grain eaters but they do like snails and grubs, we have a wildlife area that is 100ft by 100ft that we leave alone for the birds.

We do sprinkle wild flowers seeds at the beginning of each season to help support the birds.

I do have bird feeders as a supplement to their diet but this is mainly to being them to our area and not met to feed them entirely.

Oregon Blue Jays are not blue birds they are much larger and more aggressive, you want blue jays around your place because they are your security alert from predators, cats, hawks, crows even people they don’t know around your house.

Their bird house is also like the Robin and Dove but larger and they like the nesting box in trees and one nesting per tree, they don’t like other birds arounds their nesting area.

The blue Jay eats caterpillars, beetles, grasshoppers, spiders, snails, small rodents and even small frogs.

They are great to have around your garden and yard.

I bring them in by bird feeders but the feeder cannot be in an open space.

It needs to be near some type of cover with perches and easy escape.

I feed them on the ground under a fur tree with big limbs for easy landing and escape.

The goal is to give the birds a place to feed in a safe environment and they intern will help with pest control and you get to enjoy their company.

Our yard is full of bird sounds and it fills the whole house when the windows are open.

If you like any of our bird houses let us know and we will build on for you.

If you have an idea for one we could build that also.

Feel free to reach out with any questions so that we can help you.

Sincerely,

Andy Millspaugh
